Our Mission
SunriseArc promotes opportunities for people with disabilities so they may achieve the highest possible degree of independence, self-sufficiency and participation in their communities.
The Arc is a national organization devoted to promoting and improving supports and services for people with intellectual disabilities and their families. The association also fosters research and education regarding the prevention of many developmental disabilities. The Arc is a grassroots organization with 140,000 members who are affiliated through approximately 1,000 state and local chapters across the United States. As one of the chapters in this network, SunriseArc, Inc. was established in 1964 as Sunrise Workshop merged with the Lake County Association for Retarded Citizens in 1986 and was renamed SunriseArc, Inc., in 1993.
Our Cause, Our Clients
With over 42 years of service to those with developmental disabilities, SunriseArc is one of the largest charitable organizations devoted to this cause throughout Central Florida. Almost 250 adults with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, autism, behavioral disorders and other developmental disabilities related conditions are being supported by SunriseArc to achieve the highest level of independence and participation in the community.
Our Core Services
- Adult Day Training – two facilities offering academic and vocational training, recreational and art programs as well as personal care and safety instruction.
- Residential Services – Currently seven group homes throughout Central Florida
- Supported Employment – Job coaches conducting development and placement, on site training and follow along.
- Community Inclusion – participation in various activities within the community
